There is a need to fundamentally rethink the approach to translation and dissemination of clinical trial results. The current approach relegates dissemination as a side effect to the end of a trial and does not require sufficient funds be set aside to conduct adequate outreach. We need to identify and test the proven effective dissemination and implementation frameworks that are relevant to heart, lung, and blood disorders in order to scale up evidence-based interventions in real world settings, ultimately improving health equity among minority populations, including low income minority residents living in public housing.
