Can transcutaneous carboxyhemoglobin measure endogenous heme oxygenase activity?

Non-invasive measurement of transcutaneous carboxyhemoglobin (SpCO) by CO-oximetry has been shown to reflect disease activity in asthma, allergic rhinitis, Staphylococcal pneumonia/sepsis and to correlate positively with lung function in cystic fibrosis.
